PART 3: WHEN YOU CALL ON THE NAME OF JESUS IT ENSURES HIS POWER IN OUR ACTIVITY.

Not only his presence in our assembly, but his power in our activity. MATT. 28:18 “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.”  Powerless praying is panic praying where we try to manipulate and maneuver God.  God is not interested in “crisis” praying, he’s interested in “Christly” praying!

REAL PRAYER IS REAL WORSHIP.

MATT: 6:9 “And when ye pray, say this, our father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. PSALM 55:17 “Evening morning and noon will I pray and cry aloud, and he shall hear my voice.” We need Jesus’ power because Satan is going to oppose any kind of worship of God.

REAL PRAYER IS REAL WORK

JAMES 5:16 “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” EPHESIANS 6:18, “Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,”

Real fervent prayer involves real worship and tears and adoration, and thanksgiving and confession. “Faith and Supplication.” Now, that is work!

We’re really good, as Baptist, talking about prayer. Most of us are not willing to put in the time to do it. WHY? Because prayer works and it is work praying!!!!

We talk about praying for so and so, and so and so, but if I were to write on a big blackboard just how many minutes we actually spent praying. I think we’d be surprised if anyone ever got well.

THE LAST REASON ON WHY, WE PRAY IN JESUS NAME IS BECAUSE IT ENSURES HIS PROVISION FOR OUR ANSWERS.

When God answers our prayers, it is for the specific purpose of glorifying God in heaven above, however, I think it is more than that. I think it is so our joy may be full!

Sometimes we don’t even know how to pray or even what to ask for. That is why Romans 8 says that the Holy Spirit make intercession for us with groaning, which may not be uttered.  He who knows the mind set of God, prays for us through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

There are some confidences that we can have: We can have confidence in that we can know his provisions:

WE CAN HAVE CONFIDENCE IN HIS PROMISES:

MATT. 18:19,Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.”

MARK 11:24, “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received[a]it, and it will be yours.”

God answers every prayer of every Christian! However, you need to understand that he does it in one of four ways.

  1. SOMETIMES HE ANSWERS DIRECTLY

I love it when He answers in this way. I pray, and God gives! Bang! Yes!!! I know that this is one of your favorite answers from God also.

  1. SOMETIMES HE ANSWERS WITH THE DELAYED

You know what I mean. You pray, and God says, wait! We don’t like this method because we want to see answers right now.

  1. SOMETIMES GOD ANSWERS WITH THE DIVERTED

We might want a new Lincoln and God says go buy that old Escort.   But God, I want that Lincoln. God says, well someone’s going to plow into you next week and you’d be upset if it was the Lincoln, so go get the escort. He is all knowing. Let’s trust Him because he knows the future and we don’t.

  1. LASTLY SOMETIMES GOD ANSWERS WITH DENIED!

Moms? Don’t you say no when you are trying to fix supper and the kids want junk food to hold them over?

What do you say? No! Why? You say no because it’s not good for them. They’ll eat the junk and not be hungry for the real food. Sometimes God says no! Why? He tells us no sometimes because sometimes we ask for something that is not good for us!

PHILIPPIANS 4:19, “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

You might not know how to pray, but according to John 14: 15,16 (as well as 81 other places), it tells us to approach God through Jesus’ name.

God Bless you, my friends!
